Senior High School

The Senior High School program covers the last 2 years of the K-12 Curriculum (Grade 11-12). Students may choose any of the following tracks that we offer: STEM, HUMSS, ABM, Sports, ICT, Caregiving, Bread and Pastry Production, Food and Beverage Service, and Housekeeping.

Strands

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

STEM is an educational program developed to prepare primary and secondary students for college and graduate study in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics(STEM). In addition to subject-specific learning, STEM aims to foster inquiring minds, logical reasoning, and collaboration skills.

Humanities and Social Sciences

The HUMSS strand is for students who aspire to take communication, liberal arts, education or philosophy in college. After you take this strand, you can pursue college degrees such as or related to the following:

  • Philosophy
  • Literature
  • Political Science

Accounting, Business and Management

The Accounting, Business and Management (ABM) strand provides students with the skills and knowledge they need to work in the corporate world. It is for students who want to become business leaders and entrepreneurs. The course is also about turning brilliant ideas into products and services that can change the world. Moreover, ABM is about using negotiation strategies to guide companies and consumers to make good business decisions.

Home Economics

TVL-HE is designed to develop students' skills useful for livelihood projects at home. It provides a curriculum that is a combination of core courses required for all SHS strands and specialized hands-on courses that meet the standard hour requirement and competency-based assessment of TESDA. Students in this strand undergo TESDA assessment for National Certifications (NCs) that increase their employability after graduation from SHS. They can also take degree courses in college especially those which are related to business, entrepreneurship, culinary arts, hospitality and tourism management, nutrition, food technology, food management, fashion management, and interior design. TVL-HE offers three specializations:

  • Bread and Pastry Production
  • Food and Beverage Service
  • Housekeeping

Information and Communications Technology

TVL-ICT is designed for computer-savvy students. In this strand, students also take the core courses and the specialized hands-on courses where they will be trained to utilize information and communication tools. The program develops students' ICT skills and competencies which are advantageous for jobs in technology-revolutionized industries and institutions. After completing this strand, students can still take degree courses in higher education especially those related to web design, data management, communication, radio and television technology, graphic design, computer programming, animation, online business, IT sales, computer engineering, information technology, and software and network engineering. TVL-ICT offers two specializations:

  • Programming - Java
  • Programming - .Net Technology

Caregiving

The course is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of Caregiving NC II in accordance with industry standards. It consists of competencies that a person must achieve to provide care and support to infants/toddlers, provide care and support to children, foster social, intellectual, creative and emotional development of children, foster the physical development of children, provide care and support to elderly, provide care and support to people with special needs, maintain healthy and safe environment, respond to emergency, clean living room, dining room, bedrooms, toilet and bathroom, wash and iron clothes, linen, fabric, prepare hot and cold meals.

Sports Track

The sports track aims to give students an understanding of the basic techniques and principles related to physical education and recreation. In this program, you will be exposed to various concepts such as the social, phsychological, and cognitive development in sports leadership and management.

Senior High School Voucher Program

The SHS-VP is an annual program of the Department of Education which provides financial assistance to qualified Grade 10 completers who want to pursue their desired SHS education in private schools, state universities and colleges, and local universities and colleges.
Automatically Qualified Applicants
  • Category A: All Grade 10 completers in Public Junior High Schools
  • Category B: All Grade 10 completers in SUCs and LUCs
  • Category C: All Grade 10 completers in private schools who are ESC grantees
Students Required to Apply in Order to be a Qualified Voucher Recipient
  • Category D: All Grade 10 completers private schools who are not ESC grantees
  • Category E: All Grade 10 completers who completed Grade 10 prior to SY 2020-2021 but not earlier than 2016 and had not previously enrolled in Grade 11
  • Category F: Learners who had passed the ALS A&E Test for Grade 10 not earlier than 2016 and had not previously enrolled in Grade 11
  • Category F: Learners who had passed the PEPT for Grade 10 not earlier than 2016 and had not previously enrolled in Grade 11
